Targa del Comune e del Centro Studi Città di Orvieto a Lynn Ewanow della Kansas State University
(ON/AF) – ORVIETO – Questa mattina la Vice Sindaco Cristina Croce ha ricevuto gli studenti ed i Docenti della Kansas State University arrivati ad Orvieto nella giornata di lunedì scorso per trascorrere il loro semestre di studio in Italia.
Nel dare loro il benvenuto la Vice Sindaco ha sottolineato come “la città di Orvieto, negli ultimi 15 anni sia diventata una delle destinazioni preferite di molti programmi di Studio all’estero di atenei statunitensi. L’intera comunità cittadina accoglie ormai con grande entusiasmo e partecipazione gli studenti ed i docenti che diventano per qualche mese parte integrante della nostra Città”.
Presente al saluto di benvenuto Lynn Ewanow, Associate Dean della Kansas State University che ha svolto un ruolo chiave nel promuovere Orvieto come sede di Programmi di Studio presso l’ateneo statunitense. Dal 2006, anno in cui la Prof.ssa Ewanow ha dato vita alla collaborazione con il CSCO e la Città di Orvieto, più di 500 studenti e 50 docenti hanno scelto lo Study Abroad Program di Orvieto creando una fitta rete di scambi culturali che sono stati di grande beneficio per tutti.
La Vice Sindaco Croce e il Presidente del CSCO, Matteo Tonelli, hanno consegnato alla Professoressa Ewanow una targa realizzata dai ragazzi della comunità Aironelab come riconoscimento dell’impegno e della dedizione allo sviluppo e all’implementazione degli scambi tra la Città di Orvieto e la Kansas State University.
Dal canto suo la Professoressa Lynn Ewanow ha dichiarato che “il successo del Programma di Studio della Kansas State University ad Orvieto è il frutto del lavoro congiunto di molte persone mosse da un comune scopo, quello della diffusione della formazione e dello scambio interculturale”.
“Ogni anno – ha proseguito – abbiamo il compito di ‘formare’ circa 100 studenti, in un contesto che per loro è completamente nuovo. Tutto ciò sarebbe impossibile senza il supporto delle Istituzioni locali e della comunità di Orvieto.
Gli studenti alterneranno giornate di lezioni a viaggi di studio nelle principali Città italiane ed europee e workshops legati alle tradizioni artigianali ed enogastronomiche orvietane”.
“E’ per tutti noi un privilegio poter far parte di un’esperienza che cambia profondamente le vite dei nostri studenti – ha affermato Serena Croce, Direttrice dei programmi ad Orvieto della Kansas State University in Italy – la sinergia che si è venuta a creare tra le nostre Istituzioni è preziosa e lavoreremo tutti affinché continui a crescere negli anni a venire”.

This morning the Vice Mayor Cristina Croce welcomed the students and Faculty of Kansas State University arrived in Orvieto last Monday to spend their semester study abroad Programs in Italy.
In welcoming them, the Vice Mayor underlined how the city of Orvieto, in the last 15 years has become one of the favorite destinations of many study abroad programs of US universities. The entire community of Orvieto, each semester, looks forward to meeting students and faculty and it is particularly happy to offer its help to make them feel at home.
Lynn Ewanow, Associate Dean of Kansas State University participated to the welcome ceremony. She played a key role in promoting Orvieto as a place for Study Abroad Programs. Since 2006, the year in which Prof. Ewanow has inaugurated the collaboration with CSCO and the City of Orvieto, up to now, more than 500 students and 50 faculty have chosen the Study Abroad Program of Orvieto, creating a dense network of cultural exchange that have been of great benefit to everyone.
Associate Dean Ewanow was donated by Vice Mayor Croce and President of the CSCO Matteo Tonelli with a plaque made by the local Psychiatric Community Aironelab as a token of appreciation of the commitment and dedication to the development and implementation of exchanges between the City of Orvieto and Kansas State University
Prof. Ewanow declared that the success of the Kansas State University Study Program in Orvieto is the result of the joint work of many people who have a common purpose, the diffusion of education and intercultural exchange. Every year, she continued, we pursue the goal of “educating” about 100 students, in a context that is completely new to them. All this would be impossible without the support of local institutions and the community of Orvieto.
Students will alternate lecture days to field trips to the main Italian and European cities and workshops related to Orvieto’s craft and oenogastronomic traditions.
It is a privilege for all of us to be part of an extraordinary experience that profoundly changes the lives of our students, said Serena Croce, Director of Orvieto Programs at Kansas State University in Italy. The synergy that has been created between our institutions is precious and we will all work to bring vision and purpose to the coming years.
